1-2-3 #LATISM Latino2 Conference Here We Come!
A couple of months ago Ana Roca Castro (@AnaRC) Founder of Latinos in Social Media started a discussion about “Where are all the Latino Startups“? We learned that statistically speaking the number of Latino Startups don’t exist. Ana’s post was followed by Jesse Luna’s (@JesseLuna) interview with a dynamic Latina Entrepreneur, Leanna Hernandez who created the Facebook application MyMic which allows Facebook users to post audio updates on your Facebook page or your friends page.
These thought provoking posts were followed by a State of the Union highlighting the need for Innovation fields as the key for progress in the United States. I (@Eva_Smith) followed the State of the Union Address with a post, “A Call for Latinos in Innovation Fields“, where we discussed the under representation of Latinos in Technology fields, importance of improving numbers of Latinos obtaining STEM careers, educational awareness and mentoring.
This Saturday we will see the hopes and dreams of our posts, tweets and discussions come to life in a conference at the Silicon Valley! We are connecting with other Latinos in Technology, Entrepreneurs, Business Executives, Leaders and Influencers. There will also be a group of representatives from the White We are also putting the Latino startup myth to rest when we present the Latinos in Technology Tech Awards. I know we are out there. There are several organizations out there. But who are we? Are we vocal? Do we unite to support causes? Are we organized within the Social Media space? We will discuss these topics and many more on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Latinos in Social Media Latino2 conference & Tech Awards in Silicon Valley.
